This weekend, I’m going to be a part of something amazing. A while back, George Melichar reached out to me about an idea that he was working on. If you are familiar with Geo’s story, you know that when he does something, it’s pretty major and exciting. I sat near Geo on the plane ride from San Antonio to Las Vegas for our #SA2LV challenge last year and we connected in our passion for running and interacting with the race community.
About Project Onward:
Project Onward is a nonprofit studio and gallery for professional artists with mental and developmental disabilities. Project Onward supports the professional development of artists with exceptional talents and challenges, ranging from autism to mental illness, and provides these artists with workspace, materials, professional guidance, exhibition opportunities and access to markets to sell their work and advance their careers.

At the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon, I’ll be a part of a 10-person team wearing race shirts designed by George and (9) Project Onward Artists to form a 10-person Moving Art Museum. “The Moving Art Museum is the culmination of a year-long collaboration between fashion designer and athlete George Melichar and non-profit studio and gallery for artists with mental and developmental disabilities Project Onward.”
I’m excited to be a part of something that is about MORE than running. Something that celebrates MORE than crossing the finish line. I’ll have a lot more to say as it’s happening and plenty to share afterwards, but here is what the tentative schedule looks like:
5k at 8am
At the expo around 2-3 ish with fellow team members – say hi if you see us!
Half Marathon at 6:30am- as part of 10-person Moving Art Museum
Over the weekend I’ll be sharing a ton of photos, so be sure to follow along on social:
