Last year ended on a very positive swing. I was mentioned in Runner’s World Magazine, finished my first 50-mile race and was named “Best Overall Running Blog” by RunChat. It was an amazing way to end a year that had its ups and downs. When the 2012 RunChat awards were announced, I wrote a Thank You post here but I wanted to take it a step further.
The winning blogs were sent a pretty cool prize pack. It included a visor, temporary tattoos and some stickers (shown above) — but we were also awarded a pair of PRO Compression socks or sleeves. I like visors and the First Lady likes stickers, so those are ours and you can’t have them, BUT
…since I already own a couple pairs of sleeves and a pair of socks, I contacted PRO Compression and asked if it would be okay to do a giveaway for the pair as a way of saying “thank you” to everyone that has been a part of this journey. They thought it was a great idea and said yes.
First, let me get the gushy stuff out-of-the-way:
Thank you to everyone that has made this blog what it has become. Whether it is a place for inspiration, humor, story-telling or just a peek into another runner’s world, it wouldn’t be what it is without you.
And now some quick info on PRO Compression and how I use it.
From PRO Compression’s web site:
PRO Compression socks are designed specifically to deliver both maximum comfort and speedy recovery times. The science is complex, but benefits such as improved blood flow, stability and comfort are universally understood. The moment you put these socks on your feet and incorporate them into your game, you will feel and understand the difference.
How I use them:
I’ll wear the compression sleeves on runs where I anticipate my legs being “tight or tired.” Typically on a back-to-back day or weekend. I choose the calf sleeves because I love my (other brand) running socks . I’ve been wearing them for years and it’s the only socks I run in. The sleeves allow me to utilize the benefits of PRO Compression technology while staying with the socks that I’m comfortable with.
Post-run, I’ll wear the compression socks around the house or at night while I sleep. It makes a big difference in how I feel the following day. In endurance running, recovery time is extremely important with high-mileage training.
