• Playlist Thursday: Makeup Galore

Posted on May 23, 2012 by in Music

It’s Thursday and time to analyze your playlist. This week we are looking at one group and two people that may not be experts in music, but they can definitely rock the poop out of some make-up. And has anyone ever tried to do a Relay with a KISS theme? If not, someone should…

Also, don’t forget to check out these folks versions of Playlist Thursday:

Running and Cupcakes here and also on twitter!
Running on Ipsum’s take on Anthems here and also on twitter!

In case you needed it, here is the format:

Something Old: These will be songs that are at least 5 years old. I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.
Something Current: These will be songs that have been released within the past year. I know, but you have to give me some leeway here.
Something to Consider: These will be songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to. This is the wild card category, can be old or current.

    Something Old

    Artist: KISS
    Title: Detroit Rock City
Side Note: C’mon, you know you love you some KISS! Well, if you don’t, the song at least tells you to “move their your feet” and that’s good, right?
Quotable: “Get up. Everybody’s gonna move their feet”

    Something Current

    Artist: Nicki Minaj
    Title: Starships
Side Note: This song rocks, regardless of how you feel about NM. She can definitely get you running and moving. I’ve added a couple her songs to my playlist and, yes I can admit it, they work.
Quotable: “So give me more, more, ’till I can’t stand”

    Something to Consider

    Artist: Britney Spears
    Title: Till the World Ends
Side Note: Sorry, this one is a “must-try.” Dislike it (or her) as much as you want, this will get you running faster. That beat is hard wired to your legs and their only response is a fatser turnover. Total guilty pleasure and I’m ashamed to have it on my playlist. C’mon, be ashamed with me.
Quotable: “Watch me move when I lose, when I lose it hard”

    There you have it.

Now is your chance to tell me how these three make-up experts will EVER make it on to your playlist.

I took your advice, I’m composing my post right now.

Have you ever heard the Mighty Mighty Bosstones version of Detroit Rock City, it really jacks up the tempo, freakin’ awesome.

I’m totally with ya on both Niki Minaj and Britney too, they both make my playlists!

  4. Kierston says:

Nicki and Brit are on my playlist! I guess when the world ends there will be starships waiting for us ;) Drum roll pls lol

  5. I love Britney! Have always and will always!

  6. Carly says:

I love Britney! And that song has been on my playlist before!

  7. Andi says:

Please: running songs are definitely embarrassing. Unfortunately, the music we run to is the silly, poppy, boppy stuff – not the stuff we want to listen to in front of other people for the most part. That’s why headphones are so awesome – no one has to know!

My Playlist Thursday is a list of anthems:

  8. LOVE the music this week. I’m with you on NM and BS…may not like them, but you can’t help but like their music. My son is actually dancing in the center of our living room right now (I’m playing the NM song!) =)

  9. OK, my running playlist is really the only place I can listen to Britney. I tried to deny my love for Nicki Minaj for so long but I failed. And now I’m sitting here in a coffee shop listening to her song and bopping my head like and idiot. Thanks for that.

Sigh. I hate it when there’s a Britney song that I can tolerate.

Interesting note on the make up and metal bands–just watched a show on VHI all about the big metal bands of the 80s and the whole make up thing. They were delving into how metal is such a “male” thing, but that here were these bands making themselves look extremely effeminate. Interesting contrast.

See, and you suggested I watch some trashy TV–there you have it, I’m already on it!

  11. Dawn Smith says:

I will not lie.. Britney has helped push me through a lot of cardio, LOL.

  12. Love the songs! I am a huge fan of Starships…it’s a great ‘pump me up’ song!
