We all have those random songs that are on our playlist. We don’t know how they got there and we can’t really understand why they make us run faster, lift stronger or get in that extra rep… but somehow, they do.
Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.
I already published my entire RACE DAY PLAYLIST, but here are three of my “random” songs that are on my playlist for some reason or another.
Title: My Own Worst Enemy
Side Note: I saw them in concert when this song was all over the radio. Great live. Ready for a random fact? I’ve done Karaoke once in my life… and it was THIS song.
Quotable: “I can’t remember what was said or what you threw at me”
Artist: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Title: Thrift Shop
Side Note: Okay. This VIDEO and SONG is hilarious. Please watch it, you won’t regret it (sorry about the first rap lyric) — he is talking about shopping at the thrift shop. LOL. Love it and makes the next 3:53 seconds of your next mile fly by as you laugh.
Shout out: to my Ohio buddy for bringing this song to my attention. Let’s see if she reads this. :)
Quotable: “I’m gonna pop some tags. Only got twenty dollars in my pocket.”
Something to Consider
Artist: Kid Cudi (Steve Aoki Remix)
Title: Pursuit of Happiness
Side Note: This is the remixed version that was featured in the movie PROJECT X — which I think is a funny and stupid movie, but I digress. I’ve had this playing non-stop for some time. I love Kid Cudi’s style and my favorite part is at 0:45 to 1:15 — LOVE that part.
Quotable: “I’m on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that shines ain’t always gold”

What did you think of the Thrift Store song? Pretty random, right?
