Let’s start with the expo. This past weekend was the San Jose Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. It’s one of my favorite Bay Area races and this would be my 6th time running it (out of 8 years). I swung by early on Saturday to pick up my bib and make the quick rounds before the tweet up planned at noon.
As usual, the organization was spot on and breezed through bib pick up, did some snooping around the official gear and made my way through the expo. I took some fun photos, the First Lady got to spin a few wheels, grab some stickers and buttons. A good time was had by all.
I came back through at noon for the tweet up and ran into some familiar faces.
I know there were some other runners around that were trying to find us. I need to come up with a better way to make it more apparent where the meet up is going to be or an identifier that let’s folks know where we are. I think I may attach a balloon to me next time. There were some other folks that swung by as well that I didn’t get a chance to take photos with, so I guess we’ll have to do it all over again next year.
On my way out of the expo, I also ran into these fine folks:
And on my way back to the hotel, I got to meet up with Michael who flew in from Texas as one of the race entry giveaway winners. It was great to meet and catch up with him a bit. I’ll see you in Vegas in month!
That was how Saturday went down. Later that night, wifey and I and the First Lady headed down to a familiar pizza place where we typically eat the day before and had a quiet dinner. There was some coloring, pizza eating and fun with pasta. Of course, I had to have my hydration situation all set up:
Next up was laying out the “flat runner” or the “invisible man” and getting ready for race day.
Race day recap will be up Tuesday.
