runner's wager - miles of shame

NOTE: There is a Super Bowl Challenge going on RIGHT NOW!

It was this time last year that Michelle of and I presented you to join in on a friendly wager. Her New York Giants were playing my San Francisco 49ers (yep, we are official members of the team, so what?) in the NFC Championship. The challenge was simple: loser has to run.

This year, my 49ers are in the same position: NFC Championship. Unfortunately, the NY Giants are not in it, but we are both going to present the challenge and open up to everyone like we did last year, AFC Championship game included.

If your team loses, you have to run the point differential in miles.

49ers beat the Packers 45-31. Loser would have to run 14 miles.
Ravens beat the Broncos 38-35. Loser would have to run 3 miles.

Mile Limit:
We know that not everyone can go out and run a bunch of miles in the case of a blowout, but it does HAVE to be challenge. We’ve limited the MAX miles to be 20. If that many miles still seems too high, we still want you to be part of it and you can cap your “bet” at 10.

To be run by:
Last year it was within a week, but let’s say it has to be run BEFORE the Super Bowl. (Hint, Hint, we’ll host another wager for the Super Bowl).

Prove it:
Loser has to tweet out (or Instagarm) an AFTER photo with their Garmin or treadmill (or whatever you use to track) and tag it with #MilesOfShame

Here are two games that you have the option to place your wager on.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BET ON BOTH (but have at it, if you want to).

NFC Championship:
San Francisco 49ers vs. Atlanta Falcons (home team)
FINAL SCORE: 49ers 28, Falcons 24
Those that bet on the Falcons owe 4 miles*

AFC Championship:
Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots (home team)
FINAL SCORE: Ravens 28, Patriors 13
Those that bet on the Patriots owe 15 miles*

*Some runners elected to set a “MAX,” so those runners may owe less.

All you have to do is leave a comment here saying who you are rooting for and your bet has been placed.

Here is the final list.
