With my 2013 racing schedule officially over since last Sunday, it’s time to look at 2014, right? As many of you know, I tend to stay trained for a marathon distance most of the year. What can I say, I love running and it’s so much easier to run a marathon when you don’t have to start from mile 1. I typically stay in the 15-20 mile range throughout the year and build/recover in between. That being said, let’s take a look at a preview for next year

The ones listed in black are 100% for sure
The ones listed in italics and grey are 50/50

January 19 – RnR Arizona (Full)
March 9 – LA Marathon (Full)
March 23 – Oakland Running Festival (Full)
May 25 – Mountains 2 Beach Marathon (Full)
April 6 – RnR San Francisco (Half)
June 1 – RnR San Diego (Full)
June 7-8 Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival (5k, 10k, Half)

*July 27 – San Francisco Marathon (Full)
**Sept. 28 – RnR Montreal, Canada (Full)
Oct. 5 – RnR San Jose (Half)
Oct. 18 – Baltimore Running Festival (Full)

Oct. 26 – RnR Los Angeles (Half)
Dec. 7 – CIM (Full)

*Doing the full for sure… but it is a toss-up on if I decide to enter the “Worth The Hurt 52.4”  — it’s a challenge where you start at midnight and run the course from the finish to the start (26.2 miles) then run the official marathon from start to finish (26.2) with everyone else for a total of 52.4 miles. It requires some fundraising and is for charity. I would say it’s a 50/50 chance.
**This one is reaching. I would say there is a 20% chance of this happening, but I’m putting it on here just in case. We can all hope and plan for the best, right? Either way, I would love an international race somewhere on the calendar in 2014.

After July, my schedule is really wide open. There is always the US Half in San Francisco that happens in November and doing Las Vegas again with Rock ‘n’ Roll would be fun, that also happens in November. I’m really open to suggestions for the second half of the year, so if you have some, please let me know in the comments below.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona

The next race is right around the corner and it’s going to be a real exciting one. First up, it will be the second half of the “Desert Double Down” with the Rock ‘n’ Roll series. Those that ran Las Vegas in 2013 and run Arizona 2014, qualify for an extra piece of bling for completing the Desert Double Down… get it… Las Vegas… Phoenix… two deserts… double down. Ha.

The second part is REALLY exciting.

Reunited and it feels so good...

#RunPaveyEMZ

That’s right. It’s a reunion! I reached out to the amazing Emily of RunEMZ to see if she was interested in ENCORE performance of the Pavey-EMZ fun we had in San Francisco earlier this year. Well, she did all the hard work on that one with running 108.88 miles in 24-hours on a treadmill for charity (no typo, read about it here). But she was totally down and we are about to make that weekend the most epic weekend in the history of epic weekends. We are figuring out all the details but here is the general rundown (pun totally intended).

Saturday: an EPIC tweet up at the RnRAZ expo hosted by us. Future post planned on this.
Sunday: RunEMZ and I will run the full marathon together. She has agreed to help pace me to a sub-3:30 finish. Yep. My goal is to shave 8-minutes off of my PR last Sunday… and to do it in 6 weeks. Future post planned on this as well.

Social Media Madness All Weekend Long: Oh you know me and EMZ are going to be causing a ruckus on social with our shenanigans. The #RunPaveyEMZ is going to be the one we’ll be using for all of you to follow along with the fun on your social stream.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Discount

For one day only (12/12) Rock ‘n’ Roll is having a $20 OFF promo on all US and Canada races. No codes, the prices are automatically adjusted. It ends 12/12 at midnight PST. If you ever wanted to run RnR Las Vegas, Thursday is the day to do it. Registration for RnRLV will be open for one day only at $99. It will of course open again in the future, but $99 is a steal.

But if you see any of their other races — including SAN FRANCISCO — check out the details. Chances are if it’s in California, I’ll probably be there.

Here is a list of all the races and discounts.

Any 2014 races I should add?
How excited are you for #RunPaveyEMZ?
