I’M RUNNING THE NEW YORK CITY MARATHON ON SUNDAY — and I’m doing it as part of Team ASICS.

I mentioned it last week and wasn’t able to share too much as we were still figuring out last-minute details, but I will be in NYC all weekend “documenting” the experience. You can call me the un-official TCSNYCM paparazzi from the blogger-social-media-running perspective. I’ll be decked out with cameras recording and photographing everything from the private shake-out run with ASICS elites and the Blogger Team to the EXPO, to the ASICS flagship store, to the race itself and the glory afterwards.

It’s going to be an intense weekend and there will be so much excitement leading up to race day. I ran the race for the first time back in 2010 nursing an ITB injury and I’m excited to be able to approach it injury-free. I remember how nervous I was leading up to it the first go-around. There were so many unexpected experiences from the HUGE expo to the MASSIVE crowd support and being SURROUNDED by runners the entire way. There was SO much energy that it was almost overwhelming. Now that I know what is in store, I’ll be able to embrace it and prepare for it.

The ASICS experience

ASICS has been amazing to work with and as I’ve mentioned many times before, they are my go-to shoe for Marathon Day. Out of the 26 marathons I’ve finished 25 have been in the ASICS GEL-Kayano and they are definitely my most trusted pair of shoes. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with ASICS before for the LA Marathon earlier this year and they have been gracious enough to send me EVERYTHING TCSNYCM related and I’m deciding on what to pack — with the help of social media of course.

Blogger Meet Up

If you are going to be in NYC this weekend (racing or not), then you need to join us for what might be one of the most epic Social Media Meet Up and Tweet Ups on Saturday. I’ve hosted plenty of these, but THIS location, and THIS race has me super-duper pumped. Can you imagine the epic photo that might happen?

There is a high-chance that this meet up may be followed up with coffee at Le Pain Quotidien across the street which might then be followed up by a walk over to the new ASICS store — but we’ll just play it out and see how it goes. It would be safe to say that if you are going to be in the area between 9-11, we’ll be at one of those three locations, all blocks away from one another.

I’ll most likely be at the EXPO Friday afternoon if you’d like to connect there as well.
