Two weeks in a row, WATCH OUT NOW, this Playlist Thursday thing is coming back strong. For the second week in a row we take a look at three songs to add to your workout playlist and this week we have a theme: BANDS.

You know, like that thing that Gwen Stefani used to be a part of before she went all B-A-N-A-N-A-S. It’s a group effort this week and we are looking at workout songs done by bands.

Same format as always:

  • Something Old: These will be songs that are at least 5 years old. I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.
  • Something Current: These will be songs that have been released within the past year. I know, but you have to give me some leeway here.
  • Something to Consider: These will be songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to. This is the wild card category.

Something Old:

Artist: Jackson 5
Title: I Want You Back
Side Note: This could have easily been ABC — and that might be a better song to add to your playlist, but I wanted to include this one because I love the sound of it. I also think it would be funny to say “I Want Ya Back” over and over again.
Quotable: “Just let me tell you now”

Something Current:

Artist: Walk The Moon
Title: Shut Up And Dance
Side Note: This song absolutely belongs in another decade, but we have it here and now for us to enjoy. It’s fun, quirky, and catchy — all the things you need to mix up your workout (and maybe smile while you do it).
Quotable: “Don’t you dare look back. Just keep your eyes on me”

Something to Consider:

Artist: Whitesnake
Title: Here I Go Again
Side Note: It’s a great song to start your run to. Starts off nice and slow and has a little pick me up at the chorus. The good thing is that it won’t get you all amped up and cause you to burn out in the first mile.
Quotable: “Going down the only road I’ve ever known”

Next week I’ll most likely have a link up installed for future Playlist Thursdays — so get your playlist ready for next week. The formula is simple and feel free to grab the logo from the top of this post.

What was the last song you heard?
