I mean, it’s been forever, so why not randomly have one in July. For those of you unfamiliar with this, I used to do a blog post every Thursday featuring three songs to add to your workout playlist. I think in 2012, I did it almost every Thursday and even had a link up feature. Those were the days, right? As time went on, I did it less and less and it eventually went the way of the dodo.

BUT, today is your lucky day because I somehow felt inspired to post new one. I guess we can find humor that Playlist Thursday can be linked to a throwback Thursday as well.

The format:

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old

Artist: Fugees
Title: Ready Or Not
Side Note: Classic group. Classic song. Classic hook. The Fugees album is in constant rotation in my car, and with the trailer of the new Mission Impossible movie, this song is ready (or not) for another comeback into the mainstream. Don’t be afraid to show these kids what the “original” song sounded like.

Artist: Major Lazer feat MØ & DJ Snake
Title: Lean On
Side Note: If I wasn’t playing around with having entire rapper’s catalogs on my iPod shuffle, songs like this is what would make up my playlist. @SharpEndurance uses the “made up term” EDM, but you can call it whatever you like. The video and song are “random,” but you’ll recognize the song at the 50 second mark.

Artist: Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar
Title: Bad Blood
Side Note: Ya, I put in a Swifty, so what? I like it and so do you. Do I get bonus points because it has a rapper in it? Also, as much as I would like to say that this is a “super-fresh-hells-dope” video, I feel like it has WAY TOO MUCH going on, but that would make me sound old.

There you have it. A blast from the past for a random Thursday in July. I would love to say that this is a feature that is coming back, but I think I have already said that enough times and failed at it for anyone to believe me. So let’s just enjoy today as a trip in the way-back machine.
