Twice in a month, watch out now. I might be on a music/playlist kick and these things might become more frequent. For those of you unfamiliar with Playlist Thursday, it was something I did a few years back on a weekly basis. Each Thursday I would share three songs that should be added to your workout/running playlist. It would be a combination of new/old/random. See below for the criteria and let’s get right into this week’s picks.

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old

Artist: Basement Jaxx
Title: Where’s Your Head At?!
Side Note: Oh the 90’s. This was probably the start of where music was headed today. DJ/Producer songs with an electronic beat and a catchy hook. Where’s Yoooouuuuurrr Heeeaaadddd Aaaaaat. At. At. At. Classic.
Quotable: “Don’t let the walls cave in on you”

Something Current

Artist: Madonna feat. Nicki Minaj
Title: B*tch I’m Madonna
Side Note: I mean, she just keeps making hits. Sure they are different from her stuff back in the 80’s, but people who are still making the same stuff they made back then, just aren’t killing it anymore. Truth? This feels more like a Britney song, but that might be because the hook sounds so close to “I’m Britney, B*tch,” but it’s catchy none-the-less. PLUS, check out all the guest appearances in the video.
Quotable: “Who do you think you are?!”

Something to Consider

Artist: Fifth Harmony feat. Kid Ink
Title: I’m Worth It
Side Note: Pick an all female group in the last 10 years and that’s kid of what this sounds like. I can’t help but look at the video and wonder who will be the first to leave and launch a solo career. Any way you look at it, catchy beat, hook and a fresh appearance by Kid Ink.
Quotable: “Uh huh you see me in the spot like ‘Ooh I love your style’”

There you have it. Three songs that are similar, yet all over the place at the same time. My playlist is a mash up of random songs that at any given time have the opportunity to kick my butt into high gear.

What’s your go-to song right now?
