There has to be some kind of saying that includes “surround yourself with greatness” … something, something, etc. Right?
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to run part of a 6 hour race. It was a 1.1 mile loop that you ran as many times as you could for 6 hours. Pretty straightforward. I was only able to run for 2.5 hours because I had a prior commitment in the afternoon, but I knew some fabulous runners were going to be there and thought it would be great to meet some of them for the first time.
This was my view every 8 minutes. Pretty good view if you ask me.
I’m glad I made the decision to show up and do a few laps. I’m not kidding when I say that I am inspired and motivated by all of you. The cool thing about this set up was that I could do a mile loop with a few runners then do another with others. It was fun. In the photo above are STRONG runners.
In the conversations I got to know what some were training for, time goals they had, and I was blown away by their goals, speed and determination.
I want to be faster. I want to be stronger. Running with these amazing runners, even if for only a few minutes, reignited my motivation to improve as a runner. Surround yourself with greatness…
Posts like this my runners like you are very inspiring.
Love the simplicity yet magnitude of this message. What a great reminder and refresher that Greatness is found in others. We inspire one another together toward acheiving greatness. Wishing you the best.
I love this – I am constantly inspired but others around me. There are so many amazing people – especially in the Healthy Blogger community – that’s it’s incredibly inspiring!!
Surround myself with greatness? Why do you think I frequent your blog? We are so lucky in the blogging world to have amazing inspiration all around us. And even luckier when we have friends in our everyday world who give us the same.
Great post!
What a neat idea for a run/race. I love the running community online- especially since we’re all so spread out and on different schedules. Every day I read something that makes me think “Ok, now I HAVE to go do something today!” :)
“Surround yourself with greatness”. Pretty much describes all my runner connections/friends on Twitter, Daily Mile, as well as those whi blog. Runners rock!
Not a bad view for surrounding yourself with greatness. And your post sums it all up pretty damn well. But mostly, I love seeing the community come together to lift each other up and inspire to do just a wee bit more than we thought we were capable of.
Wow, 6 hours on a one mile loop, that takes dedication! Or an awesome group to motivate. Love the title, as others said, I think that’s a large part of why we blog and learn from each other- so inspiring. I don’t think I can tell you the names of any of them… are you gonna share? :)
Yep, but I only did 2.5 hours of it. I think it would be interesting to do for the full 6. I wonder how many miles I would do… hmmm.
Well the crossfit games definitely inspired me. I now need to tack the image goal on my fridge. And the healthy living blogging community – with people like yourself – definitely inspire me.
Feeling is mutual on that one…
the running crowd on twitter definitely inspires me, i’ve become such a better runner, and i enjoy it so much more. thanks to all of you who inspire me to be a better runner like pavey here… ;-)
So true!!! I love the positivity that surrounds me…it’s both inspiring and motivating! Love the pic! What a view!
Oh that view!!! Beautiful!
Wow! What an interesting idea for a race. I’m always inspired everytime I show up to announce a race. I’m not a morning person, but the people..anyone who run inspires me!
Beautiful view! Love meeting other runners it is so inspiring!
i think this may be 80% the reason to run and run with a group!
What a view is right! I think you are pretty inspiring! That takes serious dedication to run that short loop for 2.5 hours. Oh and I love that you got to hang with all ladies! :)
I love this!!! I’m so inspired every day by those virtually and physically around me! There is an older man at my running group who is in his 70s and is still KILLING it in marathon running! I still love to pick his brain when we run!
It’s always amazing to see someone years ahead of us still running (or biking, or swimming) strong. I always wonder if I will be able to achieve for that long.
so true! i LOVE surrounding myself with inspiring people.
I find it’s not the accomplishments as much as the drive and attitude that inspire me. I’m much more inspired by the positive person who finishes dead last with joy and arms in the air than someone who finishes first with a bad attitude.
Completely agree… often times there is MORE inspiration in someone that has to work harder to achieve what comes naturally to others.
what a gorgeous view! When I run I look at trees and tress and trees…boring!
Running with others is always inspiring to me. I don’t get to do it often, but I love it!
that’s so fun to be able to participate in. i find inspiration from other bloggers like YOU!
I love these types of moments when you don’t expect to be inspired yet you come away feeling awed and ready to go!
All the bay area blogging runners inspire me so much! It was great running a lap with you!
I’m also inspired daily by those around me – especially in the blogger world. So many people doing so many amazing things – it pushes me to push myself.
