With a new year comes some slight revisions to your training. I stick with what works… and that is A LOT of running. But this year, I want to work in some more cross training. I’m going to be working in some strength training and yoga. Since a new year is also a symbol of a new beginning, that means I get new shoes!
Like my rules? Feel free to follow the “pavey rules” and get yourself a pair. I won’t tell.
Towards the end of 2012, I won a giveaway for a pair of Reebok shoes from Jess over at BlondePonytail.com — and for Christmas, I gave that pair to wifey. She needed some new kicks and I thought this would be a very sweet gift. I posted the photos on my Instagram and Twitter accounts and everyone seemed to be a fan of my color selection.
I was a little envious of her bright-colored, fancy shoes.
Reebok is the one brand of shoe that I don’t have in my closet. I have several types of running shoes. Some I use for long distances, others for trails, some for speed and some for simply walking around. (Yes, I walk around in brand new running shoes.) My closet consists of Asics, Mizuno, Saucony and Adidas but I have yet to own a pair of Reebok shoes. I love the bright colors they have, so I decided to buy myself a pair using a #FitFluential coupon over the holiday season.
So I picked these: a pair of RealFlex Speed.
They were on sale for $80 and when I added a hoodie for wifey (I’m such a good husband), I was able to use the coupon on my purchase over $100 — SCORE!
I was not compensated for this post. I wasn’t even given any free items for this post or asked by FitFluential or Reebok to post this. That’s right. This was just a post that I decided to share because I love new shoes. Don’t you?
What do you think of my fresh new kicks?

Dig the new shoes, especially the color! I’m a fan of yellow and red.
I have a pair of Brooks Adrenaline trail shoes (red) and Brooks Adrenaline road shoes (white with red stripes). Before that, I had some neutral Nike shoes. My feet love me so much more since upgrading to so,e proper footwear. Now I just need a pair of running shoes to lounge in, heh.
I started off in Brooks. They were a pair of blue and yellow ones… looks like me and yellow go back.
That yellow is HOT. I DIG very much.
I love reebok for cross training shoes and sassy workout apparel
Sassy workout apparel? I need me some of that.
I love new running shoes. If I could I would get a couple of new pairs a month. Even a few extra to match different outfits. I understand the need.
It’s all about coordination…
Nice!!! Lately I have been obsessed about the insanely bright shoes!
There is nothing wrong with that. The brighter, the better.
interested to see how you like them for running. i have a pair but use them for crosstraining. love them!
I’ll most likely use them for both. I rely on more of a stability shoe for long distances.
I love the yellow! I have a bright pink and green Reebok pair that I wear for xtraining. Can’t wait to hear what you think about them as runners!
Loving the recent trend of bright-colored shoes. I always get tired of white or black.
I love you and your wifes shoes! Enjoy!
Thanks. That makes us some sort of power couple, right?
You bought the right color of shoes, IMHO (yellow is my favorite!). And they might be a little step towards less shoe for you, too, which is always a good thing.
Extra points for being a good hubby!
The only thing possibly better than yellow is chartreuse. Or that neon green. (I like extra points)
Love the yellow! The brighter the better :) I have yet to put a pair of Reeboks in my closet either, but I’m almost ready to pull the trigger on a pair of Nano’s for Crossfit!
Do it! You know you wanna. It’s part of the “pavey rules.”
I’ve never tried reeboks, but the colors certainly make them tempting! I can’t wait to see if these live up to your expectations!
I know they already make photos 74% better.
I won a pair of purple wons that I really like- my first Reeboks in a long time. Love the yellow!!
Purple would be an awesome color. They need more guy shoes in that color.
I LOVE the bright colors!! I can’t wait to hear whether or not you enjoy the Reeboks. I’ve never worn them myself but the look fun and comfortable.
I also adore getting new shoes. It always makes me feel like I can conquer the world!
New shoes DO equal conquering the world.
How many miles do you put on a pair of shoes? I’m never sure when I should start looking to purchase new ones.
Depends on the shoe. Most say 300-500 miles, but that is a big gap and depends on the “pounding.” I hate to say it, but I usually go by “feel.” I know that doesn’t help much, but I usually start working in a new pair when I think my current pair is close to being done.
LOVE the yellow (and your wife’s kicks too). I can get on board with that rule – new year = new shoes. Would love to hear how you like them for running. The Reeboks I have are for cross-training.
I might rock these when I see you! Make out photo POP!
Love bright colored sneakers! & I absolutely love the ones you picked for your wife!
I need some new running shoes – I’m curious to read about how you like your new Reebok sneaks!
Thanks… a new running shoe is always a toss up, but if they look good, that is an important first step.
They look super light and comfy. I love them!
They definitely are light… I’m gonna feel like I’m walking on a cloud!
Both pairs of kicks are hot!! The more obnoxious the color, the better.
hahaha… love it!
Love ’em! The only caveat? To wear shoes that pop like that, you have to be fast. Wait – check mark that one. ;) My coach told me that when I got some flashy flats for the 2 mile for track in my junior year of high school and now I try to workout EXTRA hard or run EXTRA well whenever I wear my more brightly colored shoes. ;)
Agree! Fancy bright shoes SCREAM speed. That’s why these will have to be short distance shoes. Maybe reserved for track workouts. I like your thought process.
Love your rational for new shoes…you always need more shoes!
I couldn’t agree more. There is something special about a new pair.
I love the yellow!
Yellow rocks!
those pink shoes are haunting me! I’m STILL jealous of wifey!
Reebok always has coupons… you should def. snag a pair next time.
I think you should get a yellow sparkly skirt to go with them to wear in the Oakland Marathon. The skirts are fun and sassy and you hardly even notice they are there! But back to the shoes – I’ve never run in Reeboks. I do like yellow though. I am curious to hear how they work out. Do keep us posted, please!
Skirts do sound fun to run in… I don’t think I have the legs for it tho.
Hope you like them, I prefer a more minimal shoe for all my cross training. I don’t like to be unstable or to shorten any muscles or tendons any more than they already are. But hey if you like them and they work for you, go for it.
love the yellows and love shoes!!
