There is always something exciting about race weekend. It starts with the Expo. You’ve been training for months and race day is right around the corner. It’s a perfect place for out-of-town travelers to pick up something they have forgot to pack. It’s also a great place to score some new gear with the event’s name. We all need that jacket with the race name and location across it, right? More on that later.

But most of all, it is a way to get excited for the race itself. The energy at a large and lively expo is thrilling. Here are some other reasons to love it:

There are motivational signs:

There are familiar brands wanting you to try their latest flavor or old favorites:

There are booths to purchase exclusive race gear:

There are races (local and around the world) with special promos for registration:

On top of picking up my bib and (awesome) tech tee, I was able to grab a jacket and hat… gotta represent for the inaugural race, right?

I’ll have my race day recap up tomorrow. I should also have the GoPro footage all set as well. There were some technical difficulties (of course), but I got what was important and think you’ll enjoy it.

Yep, that is Alcatraz, or “the Rock”, within clear view at the Rock ‘n’ Roll finish line – get it? the rock… rock ‘n’ roll.

Wanna race a Rock ‘n’ Roll Event in California?

Save $10 on RnR in San Diego (June), San Jose (Oct.)  and LA (Oct.): PAVEMENTRUNNER10
or Save $5 on the Mini Marathon — typically 3-5 miles: PAVEMENTRUNNER5

I was able to participate with the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco event as a blogger participant. I’m currently running the California races (5) as a Rock ‘n’ Blogger. My entry was included, but they won’t run the miles for me. I have to do them myself. I was not compensated monetarily, but if they wanted to give me a million dollars, I wouldn’t be against it.

What do you love most about an expo?
