Where is the parade? No parade? Oh well, at least you got a guy on a bicycle at the beginning of the video. It’s always fun trying to dodge those, pedestrians, tourists, cyclists, other runners and, of course, the San Francisco Bushman.

Above is a video about my Runner’s World Running Streak recap for week one (30+ miles) and some rambling from me about what you (or I) plan on doing on the holiest of running days: National Running Day.

Here is how I see it, you have 3 options.

1. Run.

Because that is what we do, as runners, we run. This seems like the simplest option. Put on your shoes and run anywhere from 3 steps to a 1,456 miles. Pretty straight forward and I feel like most of us as a community will chose this option.

2. Stick Your Middle Finger to the World

This is always fun. There will be those out there that decide NOT to run today simply for the fact that it IS National Running Day and we don’t need to subscribe to the notion that we are forced to run if we don’t want to. Well, it’s true. You don’t have to. It’s always fun to “poke the bear with a stick” on this topic. If you don’t want to run, don’t. But I don’t have to listen to you preach about how “the only people that care about National Running Day are NOT real runners.” Didn’t you read my interview with Eric? No judgement. Which is why I say if you don’t want to run, you don’t have to.

3. Today is National Running Day?

You know that friend. The one that is always on social networks and claims to be “in the know” and “is down with what is hip to the street.” Well, that person is somehow going to miss that today is National Running Day and will be running at 8 o’clock at night after tweeting this “Didn’t know today was National Running Day. Grabbed my shoes and logged three mils just in time. #WIN”

So, which basket do you fit into? How will you spend National Running Day?
