The 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare is complete. For those of you curious, the Dumbo Double Dare is a challenge that Disneyland launched this year with the launch of the Disneyland 10k the same weekend as the Disneyland Half Marathon. The challenge was to run the 10k on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday — run both and you complete the Dumbo Double Dare. Sounds fun, right?
I had zero intention on doing either of these races at a PR pace. I wanted to run in costume, take a ton of photos and simply enjoy my time running around the parks with a bunch of other people who wanted to have fun as well. Mission accomplished. I took a ton of photos and met a bunch of fellow twitter friends and bloggers, many for the first time.
We’ll start with photos of the 10k, then photos of the first ever #DumboTweetUp, then photos of the half marathon.
Disneyland 10k
Pavement Mickey and Minnie? with @pavmntprincess – funny thing? we didn’t coordinate this at all. We actually didn’t know what the other was wearing until the night before.
Look who I ran into within the first couple miles? @heatherslg
Keeping it real with Woody and Jesse
Someone say back to school?
I’m clearly nuts… or I have a chip on my shoulder.
The only race where you can run around the world in a 10k. “This ride is a classic and I wish more people took photos in front of it.” #theoldrunner
The First Ever #DumboTweetUp
People begin to arrive and socialize.
It’s some pretty amazing stuff going on.
We gave away prizes!
Are we still taking more pictures with runners?
Can someone please caption this?
Disneyland Half Marathon
Shout out to the team at Sparkle Athletic. I didn’t have a 2nd costume planned and they helped me with the perfect addition to my Goofy puzzle… a sparkle visor with Goofy ears sewn in. I had a couple of conversations with them on Twitter and it was all set. I swung by their booth at the expo, met the team and the First Lady quickly swooped on it… it was that good. Thanks ladies.
Check their site out here for all things sparkle. Great ideas and love their story.
My audition photo as a car model… any takers?
Just like the day before, came across @MealsAndMiles in the first couple miles, this time grabbed a pic.
Still waiting on my three wishes…
Goofy salute!
Someone in this photo is awkward…
THIS.
Came across @KatSnF and ran the rest of the race with her (10 or so miles). Good times.
Goofy can dance.
Goofy plays baseball.
Finishers!
With the @SparkleAthletic Team – they look amazing with their Alice in Wonderland theme. Clearly should have worn the skirt as blue shorts, hot weather and sweat, not a good look. Self-deprecating humor in full swing here. #embarrassed #neverhappenedbefore
Came across Sean Astin (Goonies, Rudy, Lord of The Rings). Had a great conversation with him and he was a really nice guy. He ran the 5k, 10k, Half. He has been running as a part of his inspirational Twitter campaign #Run3rd
The hardware and the math.
My favorite part racing. Sharing the medals with the First Lady.
Have you ever thought of running a Disney race?
What costume would you run in?
I’ll be back down in LA for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon. If you want to run it as well, save $10 here.

Can I just tell you that I love this so much? The photos are amazing and put such a huge smile on my face. Your costumes are awesome. Great job on the challenge and the Tweet Up!
So much fun! I loved all the IG pics coming through my feed all weekend. I agree with Christine – huge smile on my face scrolling through your pics. And it’s not just because it looked like you peed your pants. :)
Awesome! I’m doing my first runDisney event in October at Tower of Terror. I’m so nervous and so excited all at once!
I’ll be in a sparkle skirt, but not really a costume. I love the way everyone looks all dressed up, but when I’m running, hats/visors, and all the extras really start annoying me. Plus, it’s probably going to be hot and humid so I’m down with a basic tank and compression shorts under my sparkle. Maybe one day, I’ll go for it.
Looks like you (and everyone else) had a great time. I would love to meet Sean Astin. Rudy is one of my all time favorite movies and I absolutely love that he’s done such a great job with his running.
Looks like a blast! And I love all the costumes. Running a Disney race is on my bucket list
i loved seeing all your ig pix!!! and how is it that the first lady keeps getting more and more gorgeous?!
not gonna lie, i would race this race again if the First lady was there and i could hang with her all day! oh and the other cool kids.. But first lady FIRST!
You look just way too happy to be running those races LOL. I love it!!
I LOVE these pictures!!! You look like you’re having a blast!!! I think I would be a princess for my daughter who’s obsessed…or then again maybe Daisy Duck!
I don’t think I could run in a costume, but it’s so much fun to see what others come up with. I’d love to do this race one year, but then I see the forecast every Labor Day Weekend. Hot hot hot
“In costume” is a relative term. ;) It was so hot for the half Sunday I dubbed my costume rendition “Naked Maleficent.” (No actually nudity, just as little fabric as possible.) Still, folks recognized who I was supposed to be!
ummm I adore the First Lady and all of these pics! THIS LOOKS SO FUN! Colour this Canadian jealous! (<— and yes that is how you spell colour!)
I’ve never done Disney… looks like I’m missing out! So many great bloggers to meet, too.
Looks like you really enjoyed yourself! I did the same for the 10K but didn’t want to get stuck out in the heat and humidity for the half so I gave it my best effort. I wanted to go to the meet up but my pass was blocked for the whole weekend :( The daughter is so stinkin’ cute by the way!
Aww! Wish you’d have come! The meetup was at the Grand Californian so didn’t require tickets.
You have great pictures! I love that you got with all the characters. That’s one thing I don’t do enough of when I runDisney!
Your daughter is just so beautiful! wow!
This looks like such a great time. I’d love to do that race one day!
What a epic weekend! I’m so glad the tweet up was fabulous, thanks for the giveaway swag! I was so happy to meet wifey and the little one finally too! Glad we kept each other during a hot race that turned into a super fun one for sure!
YAY! I had the most fun ever and was so glad to finally meet you in person, PAVEMENT RUNNER BRIAN :) and SOMEONE PLEASE CAPTION THAT PIC, hahahahha! :D:D
KRISSY DOWN, KRISSSSSSSYYYY DOOWWWWWNNNN! Someone call a medic! (I have NO idea what on Earth was happening there but apparently yes, I am very, very sad about it.)
Seeing all these pictures just made me wants to run at Disney even more. I think in the next year or two we will be coordinating a family vacation around a RunDisney event. So much fun!
Wow–Disney races certainly are a magnet for running bloggers! Looks like you had a great weekend. The first lady gets cuter every time I see a pic!
>>Sounds fun, right?
No, but it sounds like something you would do! Seriously, loved seeing your shots on Instagram. The more I see of Disney runs, the more I want to do one… Off the top of my head, I would go as Mr. Incredible, but I’ll be I could do better if I dug through my brain enough!
Someone’s got his stop-for-a-picture pose DOWN! I love it. Now I’m sorry I only thought about stopping to dance with groups; sadly I didn’t actually do it.
It was a lot of fun meeting everyone in person; once we got over the awkward face-to-handle issue it was like a bunch of old pals hanging out! Thanks again for helping organize. And might I say, the First Lady is ridiculously cute in person. I don’t blame her for getting shy. We were quite the bunch!
aaaah, it looks like so much fun. I really want to do a Disney race now. I’ve always heard great things about the runs (the expos, are another story). it looks like you had a fabulous time. love all the costumes. if I were to dress up, it’d be. . . .Aurora/sleeping Beauty or Belle.
Your daughter is SOOOO precious! My claim to fame here – I took the Pavement Twins pick. Made my weekend :)
This is fantastic!! Love your recap and photos! I just started following you as a fellow run Disney fanatic I can totally appreciate your hard work! Congrats!!! Check out my blog if you ever get a chance. I am currently training for the Disney full next year =)
Thanks for the FUN recap of all of the fun! Wish I had been there :(. Have to wait for Tink! Thanks for the fun photos!
Awesome pictures and recaps! It’s so much fun seeing so many “familiar” names and faces. Wish I could have been there but this was definitely the next best thing. :)
I love ALL of your poses! Every single one of them! And yay for a First Lady appearance!
LOVE! I hope you’ll be attending 2014 WDW Marathon Weekend, and bringing your First Lady. My daughter, who will be 5 by then (insert panicky noises), will be running the Kid’s Races on Thursday.
PS: Listen to Linzie, get some INKnBURN.
Hello #pavementtwin….it was so great meeting you! I love the pic of us in our Mickey/Minnie combo…how funny!! The #dumbotweetup was great too! Such an amazing group of people! Love all your pics….will you be at WDW Marathon weekend in January?
Probably not a Disney race, but a last-minute 5K with an even more last-minute costume has definitely piqued my interest in doing more costume events. Looks like you had a good time!
Absolutely love all the photos!! Definitely want to sign up for the next Disney fun runs!! Best pics are of the First Lady, my niece is definitely the cutest!!
Nice recap. The whole event was a bit more hot and humid than we’d like but fun overall. The RnRLA is a Halloween themed race no? You going to don a costume for that one as well?
I NEVER go away – been ages & this is the weekend you all come to me – I was gone! :( Looked like so much fun though!!!!
Had a blast! Thanks for arranging the meetup–so cool to meet so many runDisney fans!
Whoa, this looks SO FUN!! I am super jealous! I ran the Disney World HM in 2011 and it was incredible. This post is definitely making me want to get to another RunDisney race (or two, haha).
EPICNESS COMPLETE! Had a blast meeting you, twice! So glad we made it happen. I hope you were bitten by the runDisney bug and will come to FL to race now, I’m sure I will be there. :) Thanks for hosting the meet up, I met so many great people! <3
I never commented and needed to – these photos rock! What a fun event! I’d be some kind of borg with dreads…no wait, that’s not too Disneyland-ish… is there a character with dread-ish hair? ;) Just a note to say well done enjoying the weekend! What a blast and neat opportunity.
I would do the same if I were in the race. Take photos and have fun. Love your photos, you really look like you’re having a blast.
I definitely have the Disney races on my bucket list! That looked super fun~!!!! :)
