I like to run. I like to race even more. With that being said, I’m running a marathon in 2 weeks. Many of you already know that I a partnered up with Rock ‘n’ Roll to run all the events in California… well, San Diego is on June 2, and I’ll be doing the full marathon.
Yes, I just got back from the marathon in Toronto with Krysten of Darwinian Fail and THIS EPICNESS happened. The good thing is, I’m already trained and ready to do it again… FASTER.
The course elevation is tougher than super-flat Toronto, but my legs should be nice and rested and ready to go (except for the 8-hour drive down, but let’s not focus on that). Let’s focus on finishing where the first two numbers are 3’s.
I’ll be aiming for 3:3X.
That last number can be anything it wants to be. With my 3:48 finish a couple weeks ago, I’ll be looking to shave off more than 8 minutes. It’s doable. I feel like I had a 3:45 in my legs in Toronto and with that long 42.2KM race at pace run in the books, I should be stronger and faster a month later.
Look who I’ll be hanging with?
I’ve teamed up with Melissa of MelissaRunningIt.com and Kristin of StuftMama.com and we are organizing a meet up (or tweet up) at the Expo. I’m super stoked to be meeting up with these two amazing and strong runners (again). They came up to San Francisco last Fall for the Nike Women’s Marathon (photo above) and it’ll be great to see them again.
Meet-Up and Tweet-Up
Location: Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Expo
Date: Saturday, June 1, 2013
Time: 3 p.m.
Exact Location: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Section. At each RnR Expo, there is a large open area where they have all the info for upcoming races. It should look something like the image ABOVE. Let’s meet up there!
Spread the word on twitter using the tag #RnRSD (official hash for the race) and the invite is open to everyone. Taking lots of photos and bombarding twitter and instagram at the expo is highly encouraged.
If you still want to register for San Diego, use the promo code below:
$10 OFF: PAVEMENTRUNNER10
It also works for San Jose (10/6) and Los Angeles (10/27) — I’ll be at those as well and also organizing a tweet up. Register now, as prices increase soon.
Are you planning to run any RnR Events this year? Will I see you there?

ooooh good luck! hope you crush your goal!
Dream BIG my friend! I’d love to see you crush that goal and definitely think you’ve got it in you. I’ve never done a RNR race yet. I’d love to do Vegas!
CRUSH IT! :)
You are a beast! Excited for you.
I’ve heard awesome things about this race! Maybe you can bust it out at RNR VEGAS with me in November too?? ;)
YOU ARE CRAZY hahaha
I ran Rock & Roll San Diego (back when it was the one and only!), for the first 5 years! I’m not sure how the course has changed since 2003, but I did run my second fastest time at that race.
I’m only a couple hours away. Not sure what the plans are for June 1, but I’d love to try to get in on the tweet-up! Having a 6 month old grandson in the neighborhood is always a good excuse to head south.
In any case, good luck with your race. I know you’ve got it in you! I’ll predict right now: 3:38:37
Would love to see (meet) you, Debbie! I missed you at La Jolla while I was trying to get my hustle going, so hope you can make it!
I’ve always wanted to do this race. Excited to see how you do!
I’m with Krysten – you are crazy. My kind of crazy, and looking forward to it!
I’ll be running the RnR SD half, my first time doing this course. Maybe I’ll be able to tweet and meet up!
Me too! :)
I’ll be at Rock N Roll SD! I’m running my first full marathon…eek! I ran the half there last year and had a great experience, so my fingers are crossed for June 2!
Hey I think this is the first marathon we have done together! Would love to meet you. I’m doing an ultra marathon in September and I’m looking for some pointers:)
Ran my first RnR race this year in Dallas. The weather did not cooperate but it was a fun race and my quickest half to date!
I await more fun pics!!!!!
You are going to be in California when I am NOT! WTF ! ha!
I’m so excited for you! You’re killing it with all these marathons and ultras! Nice work!
I would love to run the San Diego RnR someday. It sounds like it’d be a fun course! Awesomesauce you’re getting so many races in!
Good Luck!! You did great in Toronto…so go out and kill SD!!
I ran RNR San Fran and I just did Portland last weekend.
