The cover of the San Francisco Chronicle — me and Kaep make sad faces.

The cover of the San Francisco Chronicle — me and Kaep make sad faces.

As many of you may know. For the NFL Postseason, Michelle, NYCRunningMama.com, and I hosted a Runner’s Wager, or Miles Of Shame Challenge. Basically, you picked a team to win the game and if your team lost, you had to run the point differential in Miles. Fortunately for me, I was rolling with the 49ers until they came across Amanda, MissZippy1.com, and the Baltimore Ravens. Insert sad face.

For the Super Bowl, Amanda and I agreed on an additional wager: the loser would run in the other team’s colors. That means I had to run in purple. The Ravens won by 3 points, which meant I had to run 3 miles. In order to make this truly shameful, I decided to pay my miles back with hill repeats. It was the Super Bowl after all.

I recorded a video, but unfortunately with the San Francisco traffic, the audio was terrible. Instead you get some stills and I’ll do my best to summarize.

A beautiful day with a clear view of the Transamerica Pyramid.

Here was my decent. Also has a direct view of the Bay Bridge. (See the Cable Car?)

Here's a closer look. I sometimes race these up and down the hill. Keeps me entertained.

Here is a clear view of the hill. About half-way down is the infamous Chinatown.

And here I am all sweaty in purple.

Is that a polo? Yes it is. I don't have any purple running clothes, so I kept it "classy" on my run.

If I turn to the right, I can see the Bay. That's Angel Island.

And that's the car that almost hit me as I was video taping. Yep, I risk my life for this blog.

Finally, my congratulatory message to Amanda and the city of Baltimore.

Thank you to everyone that participated. The purple beat the red. Here is a complete list of those that wagered. It’s so large, that you have to zoom in on the list to be able to read it. (Click to enlarge)

Do you ever do hill repeats?

Was this a “worthy” way to repay my debt?
