Welcome to PLAYLIST THURSDAY, where every Thursday I will post three songs for you to consider adding to your running playlist. There will be three categories:

  • Something Old: These will be songs that are at least 5 years old. I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.
  • Something Current: These will be songs that have been released within the past year. I know, but you have to give me some leeway here.
  • Something to Consider: These will be songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to. This is the wild card category.

Enjoy the inaugural PLAYLIST THURSDAY. Feedback is greatly appreciated in the comments.

Something Old:

Artist: Hall and Oates
Title: You Make My Dreams Come True
Side Note: Hall and Oates pretty much rock and have rockin’ staches. I featured the video from the movie 500 Days of Summer because the movie is fun and JGL is cool.
Quotable: “What I want you’ve got. And it might be hard to handle.”

Something New:

Artist: Fun. Feat. Janelle Monae
Title: We Are Young
Side Note: By far my favorite song to START a run to. Gets me in the mood and sets the tone for a great run.
Quotable: “Tonight. We are young. So let’s set the world on fire.”

Something to Consider:

Artist: Dashboard Confessional
Title: Stolen
Side Note: One of my favorite bands, but this song (although a bit slow) makes me think of running along a quiet beach and immediately transports me to a peaceful state of mind.
Quotable: “One good stretch before our hibernation. Our dreams assured and we all, will sleep well.”

Would love to hear your thoughts on these three songs, whether it’s good, bad or ugly.
