My love of music is clear. It is a part of who I am and I take great pride in the variety of music that I listen to. I created Playlist Thursday to share some music that fuels my running. Some songs shared on here may be typical and over-played, but others might be a surprise and something new. Although we may choose different songs, music is a universal form of expression.
Why the intro?
Giveaway at the bottom!
But first, Playlist Thursday: Dance Songs!
Something Old:
Artist: Paul Simon
Title: You Can Call Me Al
Side Note: This is one of those songs that is BETTER after you have seen the music video. Chevy Chase is golden here. This was always one of my favorite songs growing up. Thanks Pops.
Quotable: “A man walks down the street, He says, Why am I soft in the middle now?”
Something Current:
Artist: Kerli
Title: The Lucky Ones
Side Note: I’m really digging the up-beat techno sounds paired with “pop sound.” It’s been all over my playlist recently and I can tell it’s making me pick up the pace.
Quotable: “When you’re lost, need to be found. I will look for-e-ever”
Something to Consider:
Artist: No Mercy
Title: Where Do You Go
Side Note: 90s bringing it back. Remember when I said “variety” in my music? Case and point might be this list.
Quotable: “Where do you go, my lovely.”
and now it’s time for you to show your “love”
Polk: Love Music Project
Polk has launched a new “micro-site” for people to share their love of music… I told them I already created Playlist Thursday, but the more the merrier, right?. (ha!). But in all seriousness, they’ve created a page where you can post a photo or video where YOU share your love of music. It’s a pretty cool look at what music can mean to many different people. Where you fell in love with it, the first time you heard a song, a glimpse into the history. Whatever you want to make of it.
Visit the LOVE MUSIC PROJECT
Polk is best known for manufacturing high performance audio products. Speakers, headphones, electronics and you know those single speakers that offer surround sound? Yep, them! I ordered a pair of their sport headphones and when they come in, I’ll be sure to review them. I usually run in Brand X’s white ear buds, so this will be a great change and I’m looking forward to the improved sound quality.
Here are some ways to follow Polk — not required.

Here is your chance to win a $50 gift card to Polk
Here are some other music posts…
There are also some other LoveMusic Giveaways here.
Giveaway ends next Thursday and the winner will be announced shortly after.
Good Luck!
I was supplied a gift card from Polk to promote the #LoveMusic Project. I decided to create the image and join in on the fun on my own, it was not required… I’m just cool like that. As always, opinions are my own and music belongs to everyone.

Running + Music = Awesome Combo!
HAHAHA….
I LOVE that video. Chevy is a perfect matchup with Paul. comic GOLD. right about that same time i started to really enjoy Paul’s work with Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa. still do.
i’m about as eclectic as you, it seems. You’ve inspired me to write a post about what music means to me…
thanks!

I do enjoy an upbeat song while training hard.
Whoa. Way to throw it back! Music makes a world of difference in so many ways ! :)
Your old & something to consider were awesome. I loved the picture a girl posted on polk audio about she associates different songs with different people. We Didn’t Start the Fire will always be a song I sing to with my sister. We know all the words and listen to it on every roadtrip.
Adding Kerli to my playlist now! Never heard that song b4!
Awesome post :)
I love the Kerli song – thanks for sharing and you had to go there didn’t you? No Mercy? really??!! Now I can’t stop bobbing my head to the side :)
EXCELLENT selection this week!!
I love older stuff like Paul Simon’s songs. I’m a big older music fan.
The Lucky Ones isn’t bad, I could see myself putting on a running playlist.
AHHH! I love Al! Great pick. So is Where do you go. I haven’t heard the Kerli song – going now to youtube it – TY!
I like the Polk site! Very neat to see all the pics and vids from people expressing how they associate music in their lives. The girl in the pink suspenders/headphones is cute!
Ohhh! I’m adding Kerli too!! The Polk site is pretty cool and a great idea. Music does mean so many things to so many people.
I love Paul Simon and have seen him quite a few times in concert but funny enough, I never run to his music. Will try it though.
Will need to check out the Polk site for certain.
Ahhhh, You Can Call Me Al….one of my all time favorites growing up as a kid. Good call.
I love that they want everyone to be a part of the action, and let you upload your own video or photo!
You can call me Al!! Yes!!!
haha No Mercy…that brought me back to junior high dances…ahh first kiss memories!
And just when I thought I was up with the current how have I not heard of Kerli? Obviously I need to spend more time with my Pandora. I’m loving your graphic art by the way, did you personally design that? Very cool!
FYI…your link is broken. It’s missing the colon (:)
It’s in there as http//www.polkaudio.com/love-music/ instead of http://www.polkaudio.com/love-music/
I do like that they let you share your love from music in a few ways. You can share a picture, or a video and even give a text description. Pretty neat way to share.
The links seem to be correct… I just checked. Please let me know if I am still mistaken.
I just realized that I should have specified slightly more information. I mean in the Rafflecoptor “Post a comment” link.
I see. It has been fixed. Thank you for letting me know.
Just checked the site out! I enjoyed reading about how others connect music to specific people. One woman wrote that a certain song reminds her of her Dad, Mom, etc. I tend to do the same thing with songs…tie them to people or a very specific memory.
No Mercy brings back high school memories. gah!
