The Oakland Raiders and the Oakland Running Festival are bringing two of your favorite things together: running and football. In less than a month, the inaugural Raiders Back to Football Run is set to go down on September 14. It’s a 5k run/walk that takes place the day before the Raiders home opener at O.co Coliseum.
Here are the details:
Date: Saturday, Sept. 14
Time: 9 a.m.
Registration Fee: $50
Includes:
- One (1) ticket to the Raiders/Jaguars home opener Sunday, Sept. 15
- Finishers will receive a “special” Raiders-themed gift (rumor has it, could be a shirt)
- Post-race celebration village (includes food and fan interactive zone)
- Opportunity to take a picture with all 3 Super Bowl trophies
The first 300 registrants will also receive a ticket (1) to the pre-season game vs. the Chicago Bears on 8/23 (tickets picked up on game day) — they just announced this recently, better sign up before all the tickets are gone. Maybe drop @oaklandmarathon a line or hit em up on Facebook if you are determined to find out.
Kid’s Fun Run will begin at 10:30 (tentatively). Registration is $15 (ticket for Jaguar game not included).
If you are a Raider fan, or a fan of football in general, THIS is on heck of a deal. For $50 you get to run a 5k, score some swag and see TWO football games. That’s pretty cool. I’m a huge supporter of what the Oakland Running Festival is doing for the city of Oakland. I’ve run their race festival in March all four years and they are helping bring some positive attention to the city of Oakland.

Lots of fun! We just did a 5K at the Jaguars stadium. No tickets for our efforts, but it was awesome running the football field.
i think the rams are having a similar race like this. you should probably come to st louis for that one since uhhh….. rams > raiders (obviously!) ;)

Sounds fun! I just signed up for a Labor day 5k- my first 5k in months, and marathon training isn’t exactly setting me up for a speedy 5k, but it should be fun!

Sounds really fun! I’ve never ran a race shorter than 10k, so I don’t know how fast I am! Honestly, I am scared of shorter distance races, and I’d rather run a half marathon!
But…it’s the raiders…. ;-)

Ha! My next 5K is a costume race, in which I think I might wear a toga, and it’s in August in Iowa. No speed being unleashed from me, but it’ll be a good time :)
