I’ll have some swag to give away at the Expo meet up on Saturday at 3.

This weekend is the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and Half Marathon. I’ll be running the full, a little less than month after Toronto. I’ve never run in San Diego, so I’m looking forward to seeing the sights across 26.2 miles and walking away with a nice shiny medal. Here are some other things I’m looking forward to:

Expo Meet Up:

I’ve teamed up with Melissa of MelissaRunningIt.com and Kristin of StuftMama.com and we are organizing a meet up (or tweet up) at the Expo on Saturday at 3 p.m. We’re planning to meet at the RnR section of the expo, it should look something like this: (see the photo below). I’ll have some fun things to give away: (see the photo above)

Race Day Goals:

I’ll be attempting to finish in the 3:3X range. I ran Toronto in 3:48, so I’ll be looking to shave off at least 9 minutes. With looking at the elevation, here is my strategy:

rnrsd-elevation-chart

Miles 1-4: 8:30, start off nice and comfortable.Miles 5- 10: work down to 8:20 over gradual incline/declines
Miles 11-20: Hit 8:10-8:20 like clockwork
Miles 20-22: Here is the wild-card. Looks like a 300 ft climb. Just keep moving fwd.
Miles 23-26: Drop the hammer and go as fast as possible.

If you are looking for a further breakdown of what one can expect on Marathon Day, see this recent post.

If you see me at the Expo, be sure to say hi. I’ll be wearing a pretty nifty shirt. It’ll look something like THIS:
