Last year, after the Boston Marathon bombings, I was humbled and honored to be a part of the Boston Strong runs that happened around the world. My motivation and inspiration to be a bigger part of this community hit all new levels. I thought about trying to organize something this year, but I wasn’t sure what it should be or what I wanted it to be. I saw that many other people were gathering the community and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to be a part of what other runners were doing.

On Monday, in San Francisco, two events are taking place to celebrate and pay tribute to the 2013 Boston Marathon.

7 am, Ferry Building

The San Francisco Marathon is hosting a SF Run for Boston. They also hosted one last year. They are encouraging runners to wear “their brightest blues and yellows” for a 4-mile loop to Aquatic Park. It’ll be a great way to start off the day.

6 pm, Nike (San Francisco)

A special Run Club is happening at the Nike store in Union Square in San Francisco. You can gather and chat with runners at 6, runs usually start closer to 6:30. I don’t have details on the route or distance, but from my previous experience, it’s usually between 3-6 miles. It’s fun and casual, so you should totally join in.

As part of the #StrongerEveryRun campaign, Nike will be donating money to charity. For every mile logged on the Nike+ App that is tagged #StrongerEveryRun, Nike will donate $1 to The Challenged Athletes Foundation®(CAF). I’ll be there with my Nike+ ready to run.

Let’s make it social!

As always, I’ll have my phone with me snapping pics and tweeting things out. I want to make sure that the running community feels love all across social. If you spot me, let’s snap a selfie or a jump in a group pic and let’s tag it like crazy!

Best wishes to all of the runners, spectators and volunteers in Boston. Even if we can’t all be there, we’re running WITH you and FOR you.

Boston Strong Always.
