I’m having issues with my computer, so instead of a recap from race weekend filled with wonderful photos and PR dreams, let’s take a look at what I have coming up next.
This Saturday I’ll be running an Ultra.
Yep, 6 days after a half marathon PR, I’m running the Chabot Trail Run 50k (31 miles) with Inside Trail. I’m training hard for my 50 mile race in early April which means I need to get in some good quality miles with elevation changes on the trails. This one should fit the mold:
Distance: 50k (31.4 miles)
Elevation Gain: 4,200′
Previous 50k PR: 7 hours 19 minutes
Goal for this race: Sub 7 hours
Why Sub 7?
I have a 50 mile race in April that I will be attempting to break 11 hours. 50k is roughly 63% of the distance, so sub 7 would put me on pace (just barely). Just think, after I finish the 50k, I would have to run another 20 miles… in which anything could happen. But it’s a training run, so I’ll aim for sub-7 and know that getting the miles is what matters most.
Thanks again for all the well wishes and congratulations on Twitter and Instagram. I’ll have my recap up soon, depending on the status of my computer.
What’s up next for you?
Any races?

Sweet Jesus, that is some serious elevation change!! It will be great training for your 50 miler for sure.
Next up for me is a half marathon the first weekend of March. First race of the year for me.
Holy moley check out that elevation map! But I have no doubt you’ll kill it! Good luck Saturday!
Holy crap. That IS some elevation change. But knowing you, you’ll do great. I think that I’m running a 10 miler in May but will likely sign up for a 10K or two between now and then.
Amazing! Can’t wait to hear how this goes for you. Good luck!!
Seriously, you rock! Inspiring. I name checked you in my RnR recap post tomorrow.
Have a great race and nice meeting you on Sunday.
awesome… i’ll check it out. I’ll also email you that photo right now.
You’re amazing dude. I can’t wait to find out how you did! Have a great race!
Sounds like a nice, ambitious plan! All the best in executing!
You are a maniac. That is all…..good luck!
That looks like a seriously wild course. This little Darwinian fail has not yet made friends with hills. I think you got this! 50 km sounds super super far! 50 miles – eeeep!
WOW! So exciting. Can’t wait to hear the recap of this race; looks like a solid one to get those miles logged! Run hard and leave it all on the trail – just like you did w/your last 1/2! :D
You amaze me!!!!
Wow, good luck! I still have no desire to run for multiple hours right now, so I’m sticking to half marathons and 10K’s, working on speed. Next, I’ll take part in the Oakland Marathon relay in March. Hubs and I are making a vacation of it and staying in SF for a week- any places we HAVE to go see??
Fun! Ill be at Disney world again this weekend for the Princess half!
2013 is really rocking for you! :D
I think this is perfect training–you won’t be totally recovered from last week and now you have to run 50k a bit fatigued. Exactly how you want to feel in prep for the 50 miler!
Congrats on that sweet PR!!
Wow!! I have a 10k coming up the Saturday after my half, and I was getting worried about that… this certainly put things into perspective. :) Good luck!!
Wahoo! Congrats on the PR and best of luck to you!
Wow I get sweaty palms just looking at that elevation chart!!!! I can’t even imagine how pathetic of an attempt I could lay down never having run hills much less mountains like those! ohhhh us silly FL people… ;)
Good luck this weekend! I know you’ve got it in the bag!
No more races until March 17 for me – I’m going all beast mode for a new PR on my 10k!
So uhh when are you coming to St. Louis to run?
That elevation graph is insane! Can’t wait to read all about your race. :)
