Coming back from a running injury can always be tough. I strained the upper part of my left foot last week and took it easy. I’m in week 4 of my 16 week training plan for the 50 Mile North Face Endurance Challenge — here is how the numbers worked out:

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 10 miles Rest
Wednesday: 8.5 miles
Thursday: 6.5 miles
Friday: 6.6 miles
Saturday: 20.25 miles
Sunday: 10 miles Rest

Total Milage: 41.85

As you can see, two days got switched to rest days. With last week’s milage at 26.7, the jump to 41.85 was a leap (it shouldn’t be over a 10% increase), but the week prior was 51.3, so I was comfortable with the total.

The 20 miler on Saturday was the true test and I took it with a pretty comfortable pace to be on the safe side. It went really well, especially since that was my longest distance since my DNF in May. I ran the last mile at 8:17 and the legs felt pretty good. It definitely gives me some confidence going into this week.

Maybe I’ll have a surprise lined up for the weekend. Be sure to follow me in Instagram (PavementRunner) for more photos of my running adventures.

How was your running over the weekend?
