I’m always on the look for good running songs. Ones that make you run faster or workout harder. This week we looking at ones that are EPIC:

Let’s break out the big songs. The epic ones that will live on forever (good or bad). The anthems, the songs that go down in history as “the song of your generation.”

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old:

Artist: Queen
Title: Bohemian Rhapsody
Side Note: It was Freddy Mercury’s birthday last week and as a fellow mustache man, I’d like to wish him a happy birthday. THIS song is as EPIC as it gets. The sound, the lyrics, the voice. One of my all time favorite songs by one of my all time favorite groups.
Quotable: “He’s just a poor boy from a poor familySpare him his life from this monstrosity.”

Something Current

Artist: Fun. feat. Janelle Monae
Title: We Are Young
Side Note: This song originally appeared on the very first Playlist Thursday. To be honest, Playlist Thursday was created so that I could share how amazing epic this song is to run to. Specifically to START your run to. It sets the tone.
Quotable: “We are young. So let’s set the world on fire. We can burn brighter, Than the sun ”

Something to Consider:

Artist: 30 Seconds to Mars
Title: From Yesterday
Side Note: I may be putting myself on a limb here, but that is what this category is about. I love 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared Leto’s voice is amazing. Yes, he is from My So Called Life, Fight Club and Panic Room, but he has a set of lungs!  This video is amazing as well. If you have the time, watch it. It’s beautiful and when you run to the song, you’ll see it in your mind’s eye.
Runner’s Side Note: He played THE Steve Prefontaine in Prefontaine (97)
Quotable: “He’s a stranger to some. And a vision to none. He can never get enough, Get enough of the one”

Don’t forget to check out the list of other Playlist Thursday posts from other bloggers.
