I love that everyone has been coming up with great ideas for Playlist Thursday themes. This was a great suggestion by @LiveLoveNRun over at liveloveandrun.com — so let’s hear it… songs that make you wanna go FAST!

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old

Artist: Kings of Leon
Title: Sex on Fire
Side Note: It was 2008, but I’m listing this as old. These are supposed to be “speeding” tickets, but there is one lyric that might get you a different kind of ticket. This song definitely gets the feet moving. It has a consistent beat with a rocker screaming his lungs out… that equals LEGS MOVE FASTER.
Quotable: “If it’s not forever, if it’s just tonight. Oh, it’s still the greatest, the greatest, the greatest”

Something Current

Artist: Carly Rae Jepsen
Title: Call Me Maybe
Side Note: I think I may have used this before, but damnit I’m using it again because I act like a fool when it’s on. I’m waving my Carly flag and screaming…. “bum bum bum, call me maybe.”  Shout out to Oakland A’s fans (or Harvard fans) who know this song and the “move.”
Quotable: “You took your time with the call, I took no time with the fall. You gave me nothing at all, But still, you’re in my way.”

Something to Consider

Artist: Common
Title: Universal Mind Control
Side Note: LOVE this song. If you have not heard of it, please press play. You’ll know in the first 30 seconds whether you love it or not. Produced by Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes… do people know what I’m talking about? This is one of those songs that when I say I do hand gestures while I run… yep, to this. ALL THE TIME. This is my secret weapon. You’re welcome.
Quotable: “This is that automatic I stay fresh like I’m wrapped in plastic. Beat goes fast, exceed galactic.”

There we have it. Don’t forget to check out all the other playlist over at the Catalogue page. If you created a playlist, you can also share your link for everyone else to enjoy.

Do these songs make you want to SPEED?
