It being Thanksgiving in the U.S., thought it would be appropriate to take look at songs that remind you to be “thankful.”

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.

Something Old

Artist: The Beatles
Title:
In My Life
Side Note:
I’m thankful for my dad showing me what good music is. I know every Beatles song because of him and have come to appreciate that the music we listen to today is heavily influenced by the Beatles sound. Crazy. You could really put any Beatles song here. Norwegian Wood, Let it Be,  Strawberry Fields, but this song seems perfect for a thankful day such as this.
Quotable: “Though I know I’ll never lose affection. For people and things that went before. I know I’ll often stop and think about them.”

Something Current

Artist: Mumford & Sons
Title:
I Will Wait
Side Note:
I’m simply thankful that we have the opportunity to listen to music like this. If it wasn’t for mainstream radio being open to different kinds of “popular” music, most of us would never have the opportunity to hear this kind of sound. It may be listed as “something current,” but this sounds is anything but. BE OPEN to new music, you might be surprised.
Quotable: “Well I came home. Like a stone. And I fell heavy into your arms.”

Something to Consider

Artist: Incubus
Title:
Pardon Me
Side Note:
Incubus will always remind me of wifey. She introduced me to them and I’ve been a fan ever since. Although I think she may be have been into the lead singer. Incubus was actually the very first concert I had ever been to. I have this song on my playlist simple for the line below… it’s the perfect mantra for a race. Sounds so proper as you pass someone. Try it.
Quotable: “So Pardon me while I burst into flames.”

I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Regardless of if you celebrate the day, it’s always important to be mindful and thankful for what we have in our daily lives, even if it’s the little things.
