Don’t call it a come-back… okay, maybe it is. Do you remember Playlist Thursday? Awhile back, I would post 3 songs to add to your workout playlist. It was comprised of something old, something current, and something to consider. Each week usually had a theme and it held pretty true as a weekly component of this blog for the better part of 2012 (OMG!) — we even handed out awards. I’m not going to say that this will become a regular again, but since Thursday is known for sort if being a “throwback” day, I thought we would do just that.
Same old rules:
- Something Old: These will be songs that are at least 5 years old. I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.
- Something Current: These will be songs that have been released within the past year. I know, but you have to give me some leeway here.
- Something to Consider: These will be songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to. This is the wild card category.
Something Old:
Artist: Queen
Title: Don’t Stop Me Now
Side Note: Because it’s Queen. Lyrcis are also perfect for running… it’s funny when you are listening to something “amazing” and you feel like you are in a different world from everyone running around you. Yes, yes I am smiling while I am running because Freddie Mercury is singing in my ears.
Quotable: “So don’t stop me now, don’t stop me, ‘Cause I’m having a good time, having a good time.”
Something Current:
Artist: Mark Ronson
Title: Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars)
Side Note: Heard it on the radio, instantly downloaded it the next day and added it to the Playlist. LOVE the energy. LOVE the old sound. LOVE how it makes me think of Prince and James Brown.
Quotable: “Don’t believe me just watch (come on)”
Something to Consider:
Artist: Martin Garrix
Title: Animals
Side Note: This falls under that “EDM” title that Sharpie like to think is a “real thing.” Been a staple on my playlist since the end of last year and it should have been added earlier than that. If you want to see why it’s a great song to run to, skip to around :55 and listen for the next minute — that BUILD UP is amazing and when it drops at 1:30, consider yourself in the zone.
Quotable: “We’re the ****** animals”
Glad to take a trip down memory lane with you and bring back Playlist Thursday — at least for one week. I know that these were popular for awhile, maybe I can make a better effort to bring them around more often.

On a separate note, I created a Valentine’s RAD Collection at the store — check it out.
