This has been a busy year for running races and there quickly becomes an immediate need for a place to display the medals… after all, we do this for the medals, right? With the Rock ‘n’ Roll races alone, I piled up 7 finisher medals, 1 commemorative #SA2LV medal and 6 RnR Heavy Medals (for completing multiple RnR events). That’s 14 medals for one series in a year.

What do you do with all the medals?

There are several options you can do. I’ve heard of people handing them in their garage, on a mirror, at their desk at work, in a box, donate them… and of course DISPLAY them on a medal hanger. I’m a fan of several of the options I listed, but today we are going to focus on the latter and highlight a company started by a runner.

You may have seen them online or at a Rock ‘n’ Roll Event. As an official RnR licensee, they are actively coming up with some great designs for your RnR bling. They are also an official licensee for IRONMAN as well. They have a ton of options available to medal displays including:

The one I am going to highlight is one of the RnR series displays. With the my 6th and 7th RnR race for 2013 completed in one day, it seemed fitting that I would highlight where these are going to be displayed. 2013 was an epic year and it deserves an epic display.

The RnR Winged Display (10 hook)

I loved the “clear” display… it almost looks like a brushed medal. They also have bronze and black as other options. The dimensions for the 10 hook display is 18″ x 10″ – there are other dimensions available as well in almost any design.

The guitar and the wings immediately jumped out at me. I was debating between this one and the one that had the RnR Design 2, or the one that was the huge guitar… oh heck, I wanted them all. HA. The funny thing is that I have been running RnR events since 2007, so I might be able to fill them all up. The biggest issue might be wall space. I clearly run too much.

As you can see, I need to add-on an additional row of hooks for this year alone. It’s called an “Add-On Bar” that is sold separately (from 4-9 hooks) that can be matched to fit any style you choose. For example, the one that would match this design would be the same medal finish and fit below the 10 hooks.

The Add-on Bar can be mounted below the original bar. I lowered some medals so you can see what it would look like. The only medal missing from my 2013 RnR medals in the photo is the #4 Grand Slam medal, which is currently in the mail.
