Here we go again, this week it’s COVER ME: cover songs, or contain a samples of another song.

Don’t forget to check out the PLAYLIST THURSDAY CATALOGUE for other bloggers’ posts.

Something Old: These will be songs that are at least 5 years old. I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.
Something Current: These will be songs that have been released within the past year. I know, but you have to give me some leeway here.
Something to Consider: These will be songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to. This is the wild card category, can be old or current.

Something to Old

Artist: Notorious BIG, Mase, Puffy
Title: Mo Money, Mo Problems (includes continuous sample of  “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross )
Side Note: Can you believe this fits under something old? Yep. 97 — that’s 15 years ago. This is a fun song to run to if you were driving WAAAY back then. Everyone was listening to this song. And remember when MTV played videos? Well, this was on it so much, that I noticed at the 4:25 point in the video Puffy hits Mase in the eye… pretty funny.
Quotable: “Federal agents mad cause I’m flagrant. Tap my cell, and the phone in the basement.”

Something Current

Artist: Destiny’s Child
Title: Bootylicious (contains sample from “Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks)
Side Note: I know this isn’t current (2001), but this is one damn good sample. And Beyonce is ALWAYS current. LOL. I wanted to list this song here, but chose a different Stevie song… as you can tell, I like the guitar riff.
Quotable: “I don’t think you ready for this jelly.”

Something to Consider

Artist: Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross
Title: Immigrant Song (original by Led Zeppelin)
Side Note: Did you read “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo… did you see the movie? The American one I mean. Well, check out how the movie opens. That’s pretty cool, right?
Quotable: “Ahhhhh, ahhhhhh, We come from the land of the ice and snow”

Alright, what did ya think?
